Supporting Immigrants in Our Community: Why Do They Come and How Do They Contribute?
Mary Jo Dudley, Director, Migrant Advocacy and Support (MAS)

This session provides important context about the immigrants who live and work in our community—why they come, the challenges they face, and the vital roles they play in our local economy and daily life. We will explore the factors that motivate migration and highlight the many ways immigrant workers contribute to New York State and the broader U.S. economy.

The discussion will also address the current immigration enforcement climate and its impact on families and communities. Participants will learn about practical steps families can take to prepare and reduce the risk of family separation, as well as meaningful ways community members can offer informed and compassionate support to immigrants in our region.
