Campus Ministry
St. Luke church was actually founded as a campus ministry: "the Church at the University Gate." Students continue to be a vital part of the church community. Student-oriented activities include a Bible Study with Pastor Bair, Friday night movies and cookie-baking in the lounge, monthly dinners or lunches in Collegetown, and participation in nationally organized LSM and ecumenical retreats.
Students also host a "Welcome Back Lunch," an ice cream social, and a "Thank You Picnic" each year for the entire congregation. New and old students also have the opportunity to be "adopted" by congregation’s families. These relationships offer, for example, rides to church, home-cooked meals, a quiet place to study, or anything else that provides a sense of "home-away-from-home."
The campus ministry lounge (with adjacent kitchen) is always available as a place to study, meet up with friends, or prepare a meal. Free soda, tea, and hot chocolate is provided. (For after-hours access, ask about obtaining the code to the east door.)
